我院创建于1958年，是新中国成立后最早的甲级岩土工程勘察、测绘单位之一，是全国第一家从事地下铁道勘察、测绘的大型企业，可承接轨道交通、市政、铁路、工民建的设计咨询、勘察、测绘、监测检测、监理、地质灾害危险性评估、岩土工程设计与施工等任务。2000年由全民所有制改为有限责任公司。持有工程勘察综合类甲级资质证书；甲级测绘资格证书；甲级工程咨询资格证书；甲级地质灾害危险性评估证书；地质灾害治理工程勘察证书、地质灾害治理工程设计证书、地质灾害治理工程施工证书；地质勘查资质证书；地基与基础工程施工资质证书；施工图设计文件审查机构认定书及安全生产许可证书。1997年在同行业中率先通过IS09001国际质量体系认证，2001年通过国家技术监督局计量认证，2005年分别获得北京市安全生产管理局和北京市建委颁发的安全生产许可证。

     我院属技术密集型单位，人才济济。其中院士、教授级高级工程师及专业技术人员等高科技人才占全院80％。我院下设勘察公司、测绘公司、咨询公司、测试中心、环境所、岩土工程公司及土工实验室。配备有两千多万元的国内外先进仪器设备。我院主编了国家标准《城市轨道交通岩土工程勘察规范》和《城市轨道交通工程测量规范》，参编了十几部国家和地方标准规范规程。

     五十多年来，我院依靠地铁创立品牌，通过优质服务巩固品牌，凭借奥运精神提升品牌，足迹遍布国内外，先后承担了北京、上海、天津、广州、杭州、西安、武汉、深圳、沈阳、长春、青岛等十几个城市以及海外安哥拉、伊朗、越南地下铁道勘测任务；国家体育场（“鸟巢”）、国家体育馆、奥运村等奥运场馆；国家大剧院、毛主席纪念堂、国家博物馆、首都机场T3航站楼、北京正负电子对撞机工程、亚运会自行车赛场等；京沪高铁；高速公路；北京40多个小区工程勘测及200多项地基基础施工、降水设计与施工和检测监测工程。

     我院视质量为企业的生命，重视科技进步。近年来先后有几十项工程和项目获国家及省部级奖励。1992年我院被建没部授予“全国工程勘察先进单位称号”，自1994年起连续13年获得北京市“重合同守信用”称号，2006年被北京市质量协会认定为“质量卓越单位”。 2007年被北京勘察设计协会、中国勘察设计协会评为首批诚信单位。 “国家体育场（鸟巢）精密施工测量技术研究与实践”项目获测绘行业科技进步一等奖和全国优秀工程勘察设计金奖。

     Established in 1958，Beijing Urban Construction Exploration & Research Institute was one of the earliest units to obtain Grade A certification in geotechnical engineering investigation and surveying after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is the first large-scale enterprise engaging in underground railway exploration and surveying in China and furthermore. It is still qualified to undertake railway transportation as well as civil construction projects in consultation, exploration, monitoring, supervision and risk assessments of geological hazard. It was restructured into a Limited Company in 2000.It has been inspected by the Ministry of Construction, surveying and mapping qualifications, issued by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping(SBSM), and technical consulting, issued by The State Development and Reform Commission. It also holds a certificate geological investigation issued by the Ministry of Land and Resources, a Grade 2 certification for ground and foundation engineering construction, issued by Beijing Construction Commission, a certificate for construction drawing design file examination, issued by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources . In addition, it was the first to qualify for the ISO9001 Quality System Recognition in Supervision in 2001 and received the Certificate of Metrological Authentication (CMA) from the State Bureau of Technical Supervision in 2001 and received a Safety License in production from both Beijing Administration of Production Safety and Beijing Municipal Construction Commission in 2005.

     As a technology intensified institute, there are many talented people, among which one is a academician, over 20 enjoy the title of professor-class senior engineering. Technical experts account for 80% of the institute staff. The institute is composed of an engineering Investigation Company, Surveying and Mapping Company, Project Construction Company, Test Center, Geotechnical Company, Exploration and Technical Survey Company and a Civil Engineering Laboratory among others. It has all the most technologically advanced equipments at home and abroad, total of which value 20 million RMB. As chief technical advisors, our institute has complied three national standards: The Geotechnical Investigation for Metro and Light Rail Transit Code, the Metro and Light Rail Transit Engineering Survey Code and the Shield Tunnel Engineering Construction and Acceptance Norms. Besides, it collaborated in the development of a dozen other standards, norms and handbooks such as The Building Foundation Code, the Design and Ground Investigation Code for Beijing Area, the Building Construction Survey Code and the Engineering Measurement Code for Beijing Area.

     Over the past fifty years, the institute has created and developed its strengths through underground railway engineering, reinforced those with municipal projects, and advances them through Olympic Game project opportunities. It has implemented subway survey and investigations in more than 10 major Chinese cities, including Beijing, shanghai, Tianjing, Guangzhou, xi’an, wuhan, Shenzhen, changchun, and qindao, and some countries like North Korea and Iran. Of the completed works, many are nationally and/or locally famous projects such as the Nation Gymnasium, the National Grand Theatre, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Jing-Hu High-speed Railway, high express ways and over 40 large-scale residential district etc. it has completed more than 200 projects relater to retaining during foundation excavation, ground improvement, precipitation design& construction and monitoring.

     The institute regards quality as a central guiding principle in their philosophy, and attaches great importance to scientific research and development, having been awarded by the Central government, Beijing municipal government for a dozen of projects. In 1992 this institute won the title of Advanced Enterprise of National Engineering Survey, and a Value-foe-Credit Enterprise in Beijing every years for the last 13 consecutive years since 1994. in 2006, it has been regarded as a Superior Quality Unit by Beijing Quality Association.

     The institute advocates the pursuit of the highest quality, the development of science and technology and improved management for better efficiency.
